Anthony Ford is a judge of the Employment Court of New Zealand and a former Chief Justice of Tonga.
Ford is a New Zealander. He was admitted to the bar in Auckland in 1970 and worked as a lawyer, specialising in employment and commercial law and defamation.[1] In 2000, he was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Tonga.[2] From 2005 to 2007 he served as a judge of the Fijian Court of Appeal.[1]
In 2006, Ford was appointed Chief Justice of Tonga.[2] In December 2009 the Tongan Cabinet decided not to renew his contract, despite a recommendation from the Judicial Services Commission that it do so.[3] He was subsequently appointed to the Employment Court of New Zealand in September 2010.[1][4]
